As a bridal hair and make-up team based near Bristol and Bath, we've had the absolute pleasure of helping thousands of couples get ready for their big day. We're there for those special, quiet moments before the ceremony starts—when nerves are fluttering and the excitement is building. And over the years, we've picked up plenty of tips to help make that wedding morning feel calm, joyful, and completely stress-free.

Here are some of my favourite tried-and-tested tips to help you start your wedding day feeling your best:

1. Create a Morning Timeline

Start with a clear, detailed schedule that includes all your appointments—makeup, hair, photos, breakfast, getting dressed, and travel. Share it with your bridal party and suppliers so everyone knows where they need to be and when.

Top tip: Add in some buffer time—things often take a little longer than planned!

2. Lay Everything Out the Night Before

From your dress, accessories and shoes, to your perfume and bridal bag—have everything ready to go. This avoids any panicked last-minute scrambles looking for earrings or your vows.

3. Eat Something Nourishing

Even if you don’t feel like it, make sure you eat a good breakfast. Choose something light but satisfying to keep your energy up—think yoghurt and fruit, porridge, or a smoothie. You’ll need it for the long, exciting day ahead!

4. Create a Calm Environment

Choose a room with natural light, good ventilation, and plenty of space. Light a candle, play your favourite playlist, and surround yourself with people who make you feel calm and happy.

5. Get Ready in Your Dressing Gown or Button-Up Shirt

You’ll want to avoid pulling anything over your head once your hair and makeup are done! A satin robe or oversized shirt is ideal—and perfect for those cute getting-ready photos, too.

6. Keep Your Inner Circle Small

Too many people in the room can add stress and noise. Keep it to those who will help you feel at ease—your bridesmaids, mum, or a best friend. Trust your suppliers and let them do their thing.

7. Don’t Worry About the Weather

If it rains—it rains. If your dress gets a bit dusty—it’s a sign of a day well lived. Focus on the joy, not perfection. It’s your day, and nothing can take away from the magic of that.

8. Trust Your Suppliers

You’ve hired professionals—let them handle the details. Whether it's your hairstylist, makeup artist, or photographer, they've done this many times before and know how to keep things running smoothly. Don't be afraid to let them know you're a little nervous and they will be ready to help and support you.

9. Take a Moment Just for You

Before you put on your dress, take five quiet minutes to breathe, reflect, or read a note from your partner. It’s a beautiful way to ground yourself in the moment before you step into the next chapter of your life.

Final Thoughts: (this is really important) The wedding morning sets the tone for the rest of your day. With a little planning, the right people around you, and a focus on staying present, it can be one of the most relaxed and joyful parts of your entire celebration.
